Candice Sullivan is the Education Coordinator for Women’s’ Services for The Inova Health System. Candice is an Instructor Trainer for AWHONN’s Fetal Heart Monitoring programs, a Regional NRP Instructor, and is certified in Inpatient Obstetrics, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, and Nursing Staff Development. She is also a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator.
She started her career as an Army Nurse working with Mothers and Babies in several Military Hospitals around the world. She also served a tour of duty in Vietnam and was featured in a documentary in 2001 describing the experience of Nurses who served in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army in 1991 she has held various positions in management and for the last ten years has been an education coordinator for women’s health for The Inova Health System.
Candice graduated from Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing and received a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Maryland. She earned a Masters degree in Nursing of the Developing Family at The Catholic University of America, and is a doctorial nursing student at George Mason University. She is active in the Association of Women’s’ Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and represents the organization on the United States Breastfeeding committee. Candice lives in Herndon, Virginia, a suburb of Washington DC with her husband, daughter and son.
